Capital Projects: The District is about to embark on the construction of seven eagerly anticipated capital projects which include:
- Decommissioning the Casita Park Wastewater Lagoon and installing a sewer line to the Aspen Wastewater Treatment Facility (the primary treatment facility)
- Sanitization and pumping improvements to the Well 18 water supply (the District’s primary groundwater source).
- Reconfiguration of the water and sewer lines on East Dream Way
- Replacement of the Sky View main water line.
- Improvements to the debris removal and treatment systems of the Aspen Wastewater Treatment Facility.
- Replacement of the Wagon Wheel Lift station
- The addition of system automation and control
The District has secured funding and completed the project design and recently published notices in several publications that it is now accepting bids for these projects. The projects are expected to be initiated in April 2010 and be completed by the end of the year. Detailed schedules and project budgets can be viewed by going to the Financial link on the left.
Going Green: The District is researching clean energy production opportunities such as hydro-electric and solar power. To the extent these options are available and economically feasible the District plans to pursue and utilize them.
Water Rights: The District’s Board of Directors and Staff are currently working with the special counsel and water engineers to develop a plan to protect the District’s right to the water it uses today and the projected need for future generations.
Long Range Planning: At its February 20th Board retreat the Board focused on the long term well being of the District and the Community at large. Plans for maintaining and improving the District’s infrastructure while working within tightening state and federal regulations were discussed at length.
